ZipHop Users

Hereinafter, wherever the word 'ZipHop' appears in this document, it represents 'ZipHop Technologies Private Limited' and wherever the word ‘Customer’ or 'User' appears in this document, it represents the person who has booked the vehicle from ZipHop after agreeing to all the below mentioned terms and conditions.

The terms and conditions are subject to change and ZipHop reserves the right to make the changes from time to time without any prior notice. Customers are requested to go through the policies every time before making the booking.

ZipHop is an online aggregator of vendors who rent out vehicles. It does not operate vehicle services of its own. In order to provide a comprehensive choice of vehicles to users, it has tied up with multiple vehicle rental vendors at different locations.

Eligibility Criteria
  • ZipHop members must be at least 20 years of age.
  • ZipHop members should hold a valid Indian driving licence. If not an Indian citizen, member must have a valid International driving licence.
  • ZipHop members must be free from alcohol or drug related driving violations in the past five years.
  • ZipHop members must not have any driving accident history in their record.
ZipHop Registration
Every user must register on our website or through our mobile application. It is user’s responsibility to provide and maintain correct email address, contact number, postal address, and other account information at the time of registration. A user can book a vehicle only after he/she has registered with ZipHop. The user must be 20 years of age or older and should hold a valid Indian driving license. If the user is not an Indian citizen, he/she must have a valid International driving license. ZipHop reserves the sole right of granting membership to any applicant. ZipHop can refuse membership to any applicant, even if he/she satisfies all the above criteria. An applicant, on application for membership, authorizes ZipHop to verify the submitted documents through the concerned authorities. A user is not allowed to create multiple accounts.
Personal Information and Documents

The user has to present a valid driving license at the vendor location before pickup. In case the user is unable to present the same, the booking shall stand canceled. If the user is not an Indian citizen, he/she must present a valid International driving license at the vendor location before pickup.

In addition to the above, user has to produce any one of the following ORIGINAL Identity Proofs at the time of picking up the vehicle- Passport, Voter Identity Card or PAN Card, etc.

Using ZipHop Services
  • ZipHop vehicles can only be driven by registered members. Persons not registered on ZipHop, but accompanying ZipHop members are not allowed to drive the vehicle.

  • ZipHop members whose driver’s license has expired will not be allowed to make bookings.

  • ZipHop vehicles are meant solely for personal use. Members can’t use ZipHop vehicles for commercial use, such as using it as a taxi for transporting people.

  • ZipHop vehicles must not be used for any contests like races or for exhibitions.

  • ZipHop vehicles must not be used for towing, pushing and/or propelling another vehicle or object.

  • ZipHop vehicles must not be used by a user under the influence of any substance that impairs his/her ability to drive, like alcohol, drugs, narcotic substances. A zero-tolerance policy is adopted in such cases.

  • ZipHop vehicles must not be used for carrying out any crime or illegal activity.

  • ZipHop users must not drive a vehicle while using a mobile phone or any other mobile communication device in any manner whatsoever, with or without a hands-free device that may distract them from driving or otherwise engaging in similar activities that may be prohibited by the law.

  • ZipHop users are not allowed to carry the following items while driving the vehicle:

    • Any object whose possession has been deemed illegal by the Indian penal code.
    • Weapons or any sharp or inflammable object which may cause damage to the vehicle or endanger human life.
    • Any other object which compromises the stability, safety or performance of the vehicle and/or the passengers.

    ZipHop holds the right to refuse a booking if the user is found to possess any of the above items.

  • ZipHop vehicles must not be used for transporting objects that could – due to their size, shape, or weight – adversely impact the vehicle.

  • ZipHop vehicles can be used only in the Republic of India. Use of the vehicles is subject to the laws of India. The vehicle cannot be driven in areas where entry is prohibited by the central or state government.

The terms of vehicle use listed above are non-exhaustive. Any negligent or use in an abusive manner, as determined by ZipHop in its sole discretion, may be deemed a violation of these terms and conditions. Illegal use of the vehicle will be reported to the concerned authorities by ZipHop followed by the suspension or termination of service immediately. In the case of non-compliance, appropriate actions may be taken against the user by the concerned local, state, and/or national authorities. In such scenario, the entire sum of security deposit will be retained by ZipHop.

ZipHop Reservations
  • ZipHop users are required to make reservations in advance and prior to pick-up. Bookings are done on a first come first serve basis. Availability of a particular vehicle at all times is not guaranteed by ZipHop. Booking requests should be made at least 2 hours prior to pick-up time. Requests with a lesser time gap will not be entertained.

  • If a user wishes to extend the duration of his/her booking, he/she can do so on the ZipHop website or mobile application. User can also get in touch with the ZipHop customer care. Extension depends on the availability of the vehicle for the requested period of time. Extra charges for the extended period of time will be calculated as per regular rates.   • If your extension request is not approved or denied by ZipHop and you do not return the vehicle to the designated ZipHop drop-off location by the end of your original reservation time, ZipHop reserves the right to take possession of the vehicle from you immediately or any time thereafter, and at any location. In such an event,
    • You will be charged late fee, inconvenience fee and any other charges applicable as per ZipHop’s fee policy from the scheduled end time of your original booking till the time the vehicle is recovered from you.
    • You will also be liable to pay any additional costs incurred by ZipHop in taking possession of the vehicle from you, and
    • You will not be provided any compensation or alternate means of transportation in such case and will not have the right to ride in the ZipHop vehicle any more.
  • All expenses incurred during the rental period on the vehicle such as parking fee, fine, tickets/challans, etc. will be borne by the user.
HopCash: ZipHop Loyalty Program

HopCash is a way in which ZipHop endeavors to reward and thank it's loyal customers for patronizing our business, and using ZipHop services. Members of ZipHop Loyalty program are able to earn and accumulate “HopCash" that can be redeemed for making bookings with ZipHop.

One can earn HopCash in following ways:
  • Referring your friend to ZipHop App
  • Through cashback coupons

  • Using HopCash

    One can use HopCash on all bookings though ZipHop upto a maximum of 5% of the booking amount.

    HopCash Validity

    HopCash has a lifetime validity, however ZipHop reserves the right to terminate, discontinue or cancel it's loyalty program 'HopCash' at any time and in its sole discretion without notice.

    Settling Claims Arising out of Accidents/Theft of Vehicles/Loss of Vehicles during Booking Period
    In case of any accident related damage to the vehicle or theft of vehicle or in a case when the vehicle is lost or misplaced, the incident would be resolved mutually between the vehicle vendor and the user.
    Pick-up and Delivery of Vehicle
    • The customer is expected to check, inspect and test ride the vehicle before taking delivery and convince himself/herself with regards to the quality of the vehicle.
    • Once the customer picks up the vehicle from the vendor, it is deemed that the customer is satisfied with the quality of the vehicle and absolves ZipHop of any liability that might arise due to any damage caused to life, health or property that should occur due to any mechanical malfunction of the vehicle or any of its parts or accessories.
    • The vehicle has to be picked up from and dropped within the office timings of the vendors.
    • While returning the vehicle, the user must hand over the keys at the designated drop-off location. Trip will not be terminated until the keys are returned, and the user will be billed accordingly. The vehicle must be returned at the authorized ZipHop drop-off location only. If the user fails to return the vehicle to the designated drop-off location on time for any reason whatsoever, penalty will be levied on the user.

    For ZipHop, safety of users is a value, not just a priority. All ZipHop vehicles are periodically examined to ensure that they are in compliance with India’s vehicle safety standards. ZipHop expects its users to ensure the following to help us avoid safety issues:

    • The user must ensure that both the rider and pillion rider wear helmet and other safety equipment (if necessary) at all times.
    • ZipHop is not responsible for any accident and/or injury caused to the rider and/or pillion rider arising due to personal negligence.
    Traffic Rules Violations
    • ZipHop users will be responsible for any traffic rule violations (if any). This includes but is not limited to: incorrect parking, over-speeding, breaking red light at a signal and toll violations. The user will be liable for all the fines/penalty arising out of such violations. In case of such violations, the user must inform ZipHop immediately.
    • ZipHop will inform the user about such an event, if it learns of such an event from a third party. The user will be required to pay the relevant fines/penalty to the concerned authorities and submit a proof of such payment to ZipHop. ZipHop is not obligated to inform the user, if the user has prior knowledge of such violations. Any unreported traffic rule violation will be solely the user’s responsibility and ZipHop will not bear any responsibility whatsoever.
    • ZipHop users must not park a vehicle in no parking areas. User will be solely responsible for all the violation notices and towing charges (if any), if he/she leaves the vehicle in such a restricted zone. This may also lead to additional penalties being levied on the user, if the violation leads to unavailability of the ZipHop vehicle for other reservations.
    Other Terms and Conditions
    • In case of any damage caused to the vehicle during the period in which the vehicle is in possession of the customer, due to any accident or otherwise, whether or not due to the negligence of the customer, customer has to pay the amount for vehicle repairing.
    • The fare does not include fuel costs and the toll taxes to be paid.
    • Change of Vehicle: In case the vendor changes the type of vehicle due to some reason, ZipHop will refund the differential amount to the customer upon being intimated by the customers within 24 hours of the journey.
    • ZipHop is an aggregator that connects the vendor and the user. In case of any dispute, it should be resolved between the vendor and the user.
    • The vehicles and other suppliers providing travel or other services for ZipHop are independent contractors and not agents or employees of ZipHop are not liable for the acts, errors, omissions, representations, warranties, breaches or negligence of any such suppliers or for any personal injuries, death, property damage, or other damages or expenses resulting therefrom. ZipHop has no liability and will make no refund in the event of any delay, cancellation, overbooking, strike, force majeure or other causes beyond their direct control, and they have no responsibility for any additional expense, omissions, delays, re-routing or acts of any government or authority.
    • The security deposit will be refunded only after checking the damages and if any damage is found, it will be deducted from the deposit.
    • Prior to taking any vehicle, the user must document any pre-existing damage, and have the vendor acknowledge it as well. In case of any concerns, the user may take photos at the start of the reservation and mail it to Otherwise, the user may be held liable for any damage reported after the reservation.
    Legal Disputes
    • In case of any legal dispute or conflict between ZipHop and its users arising from the services of ZipHop, the sole and exclusive jurisdiction lies with the courts of Delhi, India.
    • The user is liable to pay ZipHop’s reasonable attorney fees and bear the cost of legal proceedings relating to this agreement, including appeals.
