Mumbai is full of surprises when you think of having a night out. One of the places that you should visit when you are in Mumbai is The Ghetto, a rustic theme restaurant in South Mumbai that offers sumptuous and lip-smacking North Indian and continental foods. Food is complemented by drinks and various activities to keep you busily engrossed in a delightfully delectable one night stand.
Getting there could be a problem or not depending on mode of transport chosen. Travel by local train and you could spend time walking too. Better, hire a bike from bikes for rent in Mumbai or car rentals in Mumbai that Ziphop offers. Drive down Bhulabhai Desai Road to Breach Candy and you will come upon KP building that houses The Ghetto. Oh, and, by the way, no stags are allowed so have your GF in tow. The Ghetto lives up to its name by resembling a ghetto with graffiti on the walls but the service and food are just superb. There is no door but you enter through a hole in the wall. How’s that for a grand entrance!!
Drink, Dine, Dance, play pool
Warm up your insides with some drink. You cold put away a couple of cool riders and fruit punches or the B52 cocktail and get ready to munch on tasty melt-in-the mouth staters and then spend some time playing pool. If the mood takes you grab a pen and scribble something on the wall. Jive to the live music a rock band plays for you. Foods that tempt are mushrooms, chicken, potatoes, and sausages but you should try Hunters Chicken and Shepherd’s pie. Guzzle beer and wolf down Horn ‘n’ Blow or sip wine delicately and nibble on Casabia. Feel like having a smoke? Head to the smoking room. You do not have to tuck into your food at one go. Browse a little, dance a lot. Drink a little to keep the fires stoked. You have the night ahead of you. Repeat the process of sampling some food, recreation and then a drop of something to drink.
The lights are dim and the rock music transports you to the 80s. The polite and courteous staff will floor you with their gracious approach.
You may feel like being at it for the entire night. Unfortunately, laws dictate that the hole in the wall that is The Ghetto close by 1.30 AM so make the most of your time and when you emerge, properly fed and sozzled to the gills, it is time to head to bed.
