Goa is often likened to paradise on earth where every tourist finds relaxation and a welcome break from their monotonous lifestyle. Full of life with its beaches, nightlife, restaurants and historical places…Goa also boasts of Aguada fort and light house and their beautiful walking trails. Aguada Fort was built in 1612 as a barrier against the Dutch and the Marathas by the Portuguese. This Fort stands on the south of Candolim Beach that’s one of Goa’s well known beaches. Aguada means ‘water’ as inspired by a freshwater spring which supplied water to the ships that used to stop by. Fort Aguada was the most prized and crucial fort of the Portuguese. Due to its strategic location the fort offers a wonderful view of the sea and the villages nearby. This Fort has a four storey Portuguese light house. Aguada Fort is the largest fort in Goa and it almost covers the whole peninsula at the south-western tip of Bardez Taluka.
