Where to stay: Few budget hotels like Om lake Resort and Riva Beach resort are very near to Arambol beach. If you plan to stay at the beach side, there are affordable accommodations in the form of little huts near the cliff side. Marth’s Breakfast Home and Villa Anjuna are few budget friendly options for stay at Anjuna. Pigeon Island is also equipped with basic but quality accommodation for day and night stays.
Where to eat: Food stalls, restaurants and shacks are available in Arambol beach as well as around Anjuna Beach. If you are in Goa, Nostalgia in North Goa, Cafe Looda, Whole Bean near Anjuna flea market and Royal Fantasy on the way to Dodhsagar falls are a must try.
- Arambol Beach
Arambol beach which also has Harmal beach attached in a long stretch is totally a non-commercialized beach in North Goa, just 40 kilometres away from Panaji, where one can look forward to spend some time in peace and serenity. Here in the lap of nature without the mayhem of uncountable tourists, you will be able to enjoy your “me” time.
What to see and do: Arambol is a favourite hangout place for the hippies, which gives you the chance to encounter a completely different culture. There are many shopping stalls that operate around the clock and occupy the entire stretch of the beach road.
- Anjuna flea market
The flea market at Anjuna beach is a shopping experience that should not be missed by any shopaholic when ever visiting Goa. Occupying the south of Anjuna beach just 5 kilometres from Panaji, the market is held every Wednesday starting from 11 am.
What to see and do: From clothing items to jewellery to tattoos, piercings to souvenirs to sculptures, you will get everything here.
- Pigeon Island
While many tourists flock Pigeon Island, also called as Netrani Island to experience its beauty, diving is another best way to get acquainted with the sea here. This place is situated at a five-hour train journey to further south of Goa, around 19km away from the temple town of Murdeshwara at a place called Trasi in coastal Karnataka.
What to see and do: Scuba diving and snorkelling into the sea water and exploring the underwater life at two different spots for around 8 hours and getting close to the marine life around the island is a one day activity to do here. This beach is also famous for sea turtles, which hatch during October and March.
