Bangalore, otherwise known as India’s garden city is famous for plenty of things – from its weather to the people and of course, the wide variety of delicious food. After all, Bangalore is home to umpteen numbers of bars and restaurants that cater to all your needs.
So, if you’re traveling in and around Bangalore with us, here are 5 restaurant recommendations you must try!
If you’re a Bangalorean or have Bangalorean friends, then surely you have heard of the famous restaurant Sunny’s. It’s one of Bangalore’s oldies, but a “goldie”. Located in an Old Bangalore bungalow, this European/Italian restaurant will definitely be worth your while.
The best part is, it’s in the city centre (Lavelle Road), which makes it easy for you to find and get to. Sunny’s is perfect for a quite dinner with your family or that special someone. It’s also a go to place if you want to have a lazy Sunday while surrounded by amazing food.
The Only Place
One of Bangalore’s oldest restaurants, The Only Place comes with its very own history and legacy. The restaurant’s establishment dates back all the way to the 60s! If you’re in the mood for a good ol’ steak or burger (we recommend their apple pie for dessert), then The Only Place’s American cuisine and diner style is where you need to go. In spite of it being around for years and years, the food will always keep you satisfied. Located on Museum Road, The Only Place hasn’t changed one bit, and we mean that in the best way possible! Apart from the food, the restaurant is also known for having a straightforward and fuss-free décor with its chequered tablecloths and chilled out vibe.
Fun fact – it started off as a little stall selling just burgers and their infamous Apple Pie!
For one of the more authentic Mexican restaurants in town, Sancho’s Bangalore is highly recommended.Apart from the cuisine, the décor makes you feel as if you’re in Mexico itself, which is further enhanced with the fun Mexican music. Sancho’s is located in the centre of Bangalore in one of the most popular locations – UB City. Amazing food and location aside, on the weekends, it turns into a rocking bar, as they have DJ’s hitting the decks. On Wednesdays, to beat your midweek blues, they even have live music!
Toit Brew Pub
One of Bangalore’s extremely popular pubs – Toit – is one of the first (of many) microbreweries to pop up in the city. The brewing culture has been one of the best and most popular things in regards to Bangalore’s food and drinks and pub life. For example, Toit is always busy throughout the day and night, and on weekdays in spite of being large and spaced over 3 floors! This just means that it’s always buzzing and filled with people who are in a great mood, looking to enjoy a pint and some good food. After all, it is located on 100 ft Road Indiranagar, which is famous for its bars and restaurants.
Apart from their famous local brews, the microbrewery has delicious food. From pub-grub to proper dining, you’re in for an experience. Speaking of beer, those of you who are particular about local brews – Toit’s beers are made with natural ingredients, imported malts that have no chemicals or colouring agents. Mix this with exotic flavours from their local produce paves way to some pretty awesome craft beer.
The Fatty Bao
An Asian Gastro Bar known for its cross-Asian food and quirky décor, Fatty Bao cannot be missed. The restaurant is spaced over 2 floors – the first is for dining and the second is for their rooftop bar, which is a crowd favourite. The colours, furniture, and signature artwork are tastefully quirky.
The rooftop bar is open on most sides, while one part of it has a roof and one side is literally under the stars. Accompany that with Bangalore’s beautiful weather, funky cocktails, and Asian food, Fatty Bao will be your next go to restaurant. This as well is located in busy Indiranagar.
